Course Objective: •To formulate the diet chart . •To have the basic concept of significance of various nutrients.
Learning Outcome: •To recognise the role different foods play in a balanced diet, and the effects on health of an unbalanced diet. To explore ways to design balanced meals from different food types.

BASIC DIET (THEORY) CREDIT – 2
- General concept of diet, different types of diet-High energy and low energy diet, High fiber diet, High protein diet , High fat and High carbohydrate diet. Soft diet, fluid diet, liquid diet, SDA.,BMR.
- Energy computation for diet formulation – Basic types. Carbohydrate, protein and fat supply for energy demand- General rules as per ICMR. Variation in Macro nutrients of different age group. Energy supply in Break fast, Lunch, Dinner as per WHO. Balance Sheet Preparation of energy and Macronutrients.
- Principle of diet formulation of Pre-school and school going children, Puberty of male and female, Adult male and female, Diet for Pregnant and Lactating Mother.
- Nutrients demands for geriatric persons. Diet of geriatric persons.
- Nutrient demands for sports man and athletes. Pre-game and Post game meal. Diet of athletes. 6)General concept of diet / Energy supply for persons in space craft.
PRACTICAL : CREDIT - 2
- Energy calculation on the basis of given data – a) Work style.
- Body parameters and PAL.
- Injury factor.
- Distribution of Energy from macronutrients as per Standard rule.
- Formulation of Diet of various age group and physiological conditions. , Menu Planning and Analysis.

Basic Features
Undergraduate degree programmes of either 3 or 4-year duration, with multiple entry and exit points and re-entry options, with appropriate certifications such as:
- UG certificate after completing 1 year (2 semesters with 40 Credits + 1 Summer course of 4 credits) of study,
- UG diploma after 2 years (4 semesters with 80 Credits + 1 Summer course of 4 credits) of study,
- Bachelor’s degree after a 3-year (6 semesters with 120 credits) programme of study,
- 4-year bachelor’s degree (Honours) after eight semesters (with 170 Credits) programme of study.
- 4-year bachelor’s degree (Honours with Research) if the student completes a rigorous research project (of 12 Credits) in their major area(s) of study in the 8th semester.
Note: The eligibility condition of doing the UG degree (Honours with Research) is- minimum75% marks to be obtained in the first six semesters.
- The students can make an exit after securing UG Certificate/ UG Diploma and are allowed to re-enter the degree programme within three years and complete the degree programme within the stipulated maximum period of seven years.
