Course Objective: To enhancement of knowledge regarding various sports training methods. To develop the practical experience in sports training.For the development of skill and sports performance.

Unit -1: INTRODUCTION (Class hours - 18)

1.1. Meaning, Definition and Scope of Sports Training.

1.2. Aim, Objectives and Characteristics of Sports Training.

1.3. Principles of Sports Training.

1.4. Need and Importance of Sports Training.

Unit-2 METHODS OF TRAINING AND CONDITIONING IN SPORTS (Class hours - 18)

2.1. Warming-up and Cooling-down: Meaning, Definition and Methods.

2.2. Conditioning: Meaning, Definition and Principles.

2.3. Training Methods: Principles and Characteristics of Circuit Training, Interval Training, Weight Training and Fartlek Training.

2.4. Periodisation: Meaning, Definition, Types, Aim and Contents of Different Periods.

Unit-3: TRAINING LOAD AND ADAPTATION (Class hours - 18)

3.1 Training Load: Meaning, Definition, Types and Factors.

3.2 Training Load Components: Volume, Intensity, Repetition and Duration.

3.3 Over Load: Meaning, Causes, Symptoms and Overcoming Over-load.

3.4 Load Adaptation: Meaning and Conditions of Adaptation; Super-compensation.

Unit-4: TRAINING TECHNIQUES (Class hours - 18)

4.1 Meaning, definition and need of speed strength, Flexibility and Endurance.

4.2 Factors of determining of strength, speed and endurance.

4.3 Means and method for the development of speed strength, Flexibility and endurance.

4.4. Knowledge of Rules and Regulations of following games: Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Football, Volleyball and Badminton.

PRACTICAL (Class hours - 18)

1. Weight Training – Practice with Principles.

2. Measurement of Speed, Strength, Endurance and Flexibility.

3. Circuit Training - Practice with Principles and Periodisation Chart.
