Learning Outcome: Learning Objectives After studying this course, the students will be able to know basic concepts of entrepreneurships, understand the various kinds of entrepreneurs like business entrepreneur, social entrepreneurs and the special significance of women entrepreneurship in India and understand the concept, need and process of drafting a business plan and the process of creating new businesses

Paper 1: Entrepreneurship Development
(4 Credits)
Course Objectives
The main objective of this course is to develop required knowledge and concrete understanding among the students about the concept, importance and various issues associated with entrepreneurship, social and women entrepreneurship and encourage students and help them imbibe an entrepreneurial mind-set.
Learning Objectives
After studying this course, the students will be able to know basic concepts of entrepreneurships, understand the various kinds of entrepreneurs like business entrepreneur, social entrepreneurs and the special significance of women entrepreneurship in India and understand the concept, need and process of drafting a business plan and the process of creating new businesses
Course Contents
Unit 1: Introduction (Lectures: 15)
Concepts of entrepreneur and entrepreneurship, The evolution of the concept of entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur as an organizer, innovator a risk bearer, Qualities and competencies of a successful entrepreneur, Functions of an entrepreneur; Type of entrepreneurs; Role of entrepreneur in economic development; Distinction between an entrepreneur and a manager; concept of intrapreneur and difference between intrapreneur and entrepreneur, Growth of entrepreneurship in India.
Unit 2: Women Entrepreneurship (Lectures: 10)
Concept of women entrepreneurship; Definition of Women Enterprise, Reasons for growth of woman entrepreneurship; Problems faced by them and remedial measures.
Unit 3: Social Entrepreneurship (Lectures: 10)
Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship; Characteristics and Role of Social Entrepreneurs; Social Vs. Business Entrepreneur.
Unit 4: Financing of Enterprises (Lectures: 15)
Need for financial planning, Sources of short-term and long-term finance to entrepreneurs, Institutional finance to entrepreneurs; Commercial banks and Non-banking financial institutions- their roles and activities relating to financing of enterprises, Angel investors, venture capitalists, seed financing, equity financing, Loan syndication, Consortium finance.
Unit 5: Formulating Business Plan (Lectures: 10)
Concept and meaning of business plan, need of preparing business plan/project report, content of a project report, format of a Business Plan, Market Analysis. Marketing, financial and the organizational plan.
