Course Objective: In this paper students will able to know about 1. Recent changes in financial technologies and financial innovations. 2. Contemporary development in financial sectors 3. Different types of risks and their management.
Learning Outcome: After learning this paper students will get introductory knowledge about latest financial technologies and financial innovations. They also able to know about risk management and financial derivatives.
Contemporary Developments in Business and Finance
Unit 1: Introduction (Lectures: 15)
FinTech - Concept, History of Development, FinTech Payments - Digital Banking and Digital Wallets, Crowdfunding.
Unit 2: Cryptocurrency and Blockchain (Lectures: 15)
Cryptocurrency- Concepts and Types of Cryptocurrencies - Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin etc., Blockchain - Introduction, How it works.
Unit 3: Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (Lectures: 15)
Business Intelligence - Concept, Data-Information-Knowledge, Cycle of a business intelligence analysis. Data Analytics - Collection, Classification and tabulation of data, Tools of Analytics-Applications of Measures of Central Tendency, Measures of Dispersion and Measures of Asymmetry.
Unit 4: Risk Management and Financial Derivatives (Lectures: 15)
Risk Management - Concept and types of Risk, Systematic and unsystematic risk, business risk, financial risk, environmental risk, reputation risk (concepts only), process of risk management, risk response strategies. Financial Derivatives - Forward, Future, Option and Swap (Concepts only).
