Course Objective: To learn about the Health and Health Education. To learn and understand the basic knowledge of Yoga.

Learning Outcome: To prepare an expert in Health Education and Sports Nutrition Management.

Unit – I: HEALTH EDUCATION (H-12)

    1. Health: Concept Dimensions & Importance.
    2. Health Education: Meaning, Definition, Aim, Objectives and Principles of Health Education.
    3. Personal Hygiene; Care of Eyes, Ear, Nose, Nail, Skin, Hair, Mouth, Teeth, Clothes and Footwears.
    4. Aim, Objectives and Functions of Health Organizations: National Institute of Health & Family Welfare (NIHFW), World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Educational Scientific & Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

Unit- II: HEALTH PROBLEMS IN INDIA–PREVENTION AND CONTROL (Hour-12)

    1. Communicable Disease: Meaning, Definition and Types; Causes, Prevention and Control of Malaria, Dengue, Chicken Pox, Diarrhoea and Coronavirus.
    2. Life Style – Active and Inactive lifestyle. Hazards of inactive lifestyle, prevention and controlling measures. Overweight, Junk food habits, Hypokinetic diseases (High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Hypertension and Arthritis)
    3. Types of Postural Deformities; Prevention, Causes and Corrective Exercise for Kyphosis, Lordosis, Scoliosis, Bow-Legs, Knock Knees and Flat Foot.
    4. Problems associate with Postural Deformities.

Unit-IV: PHYSICAL FITNESS (Hour-12)

    1. Meaning, Definition Types and Importance of Fitness.
    2. Concept and Importance of Health-Related Physical Fitness.
    3. Concept and Importance of Performance/Skill Related Physical Fitness.
    4. Development and Maintenance of Physical Fitness.

Unit -III: NUTRITION AND WEIGHT MANAGEMENT (Hour-12)

    1. Meaning and Definition and Importance of Nutrition and Food and effects of Malnutrition on Health.
    2. Basic Nutrients: Protein, Carbohydrate, Fat, Mineral, Water and Vitamins.
    3. Balance Diet, Factors affecting Diet, Athletic Diet, Mid-Day-Meal,
    4. Obesity – concept, problems, causes, prevention, assessment and procedure of weight management.
